ExpandYourWorld

10 …
There is no more copout.  There are no more evasions and excuses.   If you have the ability to read, there absolutely is no way out to dodging continuous feeding for your mind of information that betters your world, others, and yourself.  Nowadays, books and other printed matter that enrich, warn, explain, entertain, and spirit-fill our ever personal and wider worlds abound.  Private or public lending libraries and media centers provide free access and gadgets that you could avail to educate yourself, influence your mind, adapt to changes in your world, get you entertained, and allow you to meet others with like or different positions on ideas and issues.  Picture the possibilities that come with an active, informed mind.  Read about your world and stay engaged!

EncounterLives

9 …
You are neither a princess nor a prince, but you wish you were.  You wonder how it might be if you were a formidable athlete, a popular actor or actress, a rich landlord, a notable tycoon, a forgiving child, a content individual.  Your life and those of others are many times the same and different, but each one’s true experience is hers and his alone, not yours; still, you wonder how life manages itself if you were who you could become.  A humble, temporary, yet an effective solution to experiencing someone else’s world is to get hold of, and cozy up to a narrative fictional text.  Let characters in a novel or a short story challenge you and transform you into as many individuals with whom you want to empathize or to vicariously live. You could enter into a bullied boy’s world and suffer loudly or silently with him.  You could journey with a homeless person and undergo her deprivations or his humble joys.  You could take a despot’s place and enter his maniac-like and psychotic predispositions.  You could rule a country and its people, and dare make decisions bad and good.  You could covet, and then take by force someone else’s spouse and watch your life crumble.  You could ruin lives or make them meaningful.  You could put justice to effect.  You could do anything, be anyone, aspire to do great things and act responsibly.  Immersing ‘you’ into someone’s narrative experience lets you enter undiscovered worlds; it changes your perspective of others you may have judged harshly or it may affirm your humanity’s beliefs and goodness.

Listen to varied voices of a dramatic text.  Some are impish, others are loud; still others are nonchalant.  Many voices are sentimental, grieving, emphatic, demanding, comic, struggling, relaxed.  Characters in print come alive inside our heads as we read about and articulate their roles and circumstances.  We could convey out loud or softly almost any voice dramatized in text.  For hours, we could get amused, tickled, diverted, angered, rebuked, interested, and enamored.   The choice is ours to become what we could not realistically be simply by casting our voices in character!

VoyageInPrint

7 …
You want so very much to see worlds outside of your own.  You have the time, but not the money to get around places far and near.  Don’t just sulk and mope, though; do something!  The print world could take you distances without physically transporting yourself.  Dream about a place and get there simply by opening a book and reading all about that specific spot you want to come across whether it be the tallest mountain, the widest ocean or sea, the most exotic garden or village, the breathtaking spaces and landscapes.   Open up pages of books to worlds and lives trodden by majestic kings and queens, pirates, historical and spectacular characters, prehistoric creatures, and more.  Possibilities for encountering worlds near and far are endless simply accomplished by picking up, opening, and thumbing through the pages of books!

CaptureMoments

6 …
We discover a lot of things and experiences just by keenly observing and paying attention.  We do not have to always walk fast and straight down a trail and miss the lively chirping of a finch or the pulsing sound of a busy woodpecker up a tree.  We do not always need to hurry down a path and lose the opportunity to note a sprouting tree or a blossoming flower by the roadside.  At home or elsewhere, on busy times of our living days, we do not want to take for granted the never ending external movements and internal growing instants of our loved ones in their surroundings; we must take time to note their reactions over what they touch and taste, see, small or hear; we would escape the joy of witnessing and filling the thrill first hand.  We cannot afford to let the rhythms of life flow and ebb as quickly as they can.  Of course, if we are equipped with a video recorder/camera that could capture an unfolding event, we get a double gift; preserved experiences allow us to go recall and relive the simplicities and intricacies of living!

Drab

5 …
Outdoors, brownish grass is at standstill for many weeks.  Once lively flowering rose and chrysanthemum blossoms now just hold up their wilted heads in despair.  Likewise, Dogwood trees’ leaves, berries and blossoms have long fallen and gone; all of their skeleton-like crown and arms seem to cry for sustenance from the skies.  As if their begging voices reached heavens’ doors, rain showers break out.  They come down in steady rhythms and quench all parched plant life.  Waking and straightening will take some time, but surely, vivacious life will again return lively colors to the drab winter landscape.

Love

3 ...
While it undoubtedly exists, love doesn't just get spread around.  You must believe that it is in you to give out and receive.  You must give it a chance to spark or it will sink before it could even manifest itself.  You must pine for and yearn for love to blossom, to grow, and to fly.  You must cultivate and share love seeds from inside you.  Better yet, you must let love live its life, soar, and touch someone!

Time

4 ...
What is time to you?  Is time power?  Is it money?  Is time within your power to keep, use up or let go?  What would you do with plenty of time at your disposal?  Indeed, time has many faces and purposes.  To a fortunate few not bound by it, time takes the face of a simple commodity with which to freely dispense.  With time on hand, one could choose to burn it meaningfully or simply waste it; it could be used to advance personal growth or take up transcendent endeavors.  Time used to serve others highly overrides all its faces and purposes.  It brings out the very best in anyone, and it blesses the one who receives it especially over essential and required assistance, attention or care.

Extraordinaire

2 …
Finding by chance a gardener’s growing, blossoming white daisies by the road side flower farm is simply marvelous, but adding an extra dimension to such find, God’s natural Creation, is even more priceless!  By simply tinting water with touches of fuchsia, orange, green, purple and blue, and soaking in them harvested and cut daisy blossoms, vibrant colors jump out in extraordinary vivacity.  With human brain’s ingenuity, Nature’s unnoticed gift becomes not only transformed, but it joyfully explodes, dances, and celebrates.  Above and beyond, it cheers anyone’s gloomy disposition and likewise brightens the landscape in which life breathes and moves!

Shine

1 ...
Nothing beats bright rays peering through the skies on a chilly, crispy, and windy winter day. Everything within perks, dances and rejoices. Bright thoughts form. Smiles break out. Songs of life and love scream out from the heart.  Go on, Sun.  Shine on!
